Ravi Sood
Ravi Sood
Ravi Sood is an entrepreneur and executive with extensive experience developing projects across a wide variety of industries around the world. He has developed extensive capital markets relationships through a career that has spanned proprietary trading, asset management, and project development. He has founded companies in the renewable energy, industrial agriculture, mining, and financial services sectors and served as a director for many more. Ravi has led dozens of equity and debt financings and the acquisition and divestiture of assets in four continents.
Ravi served as the President of Lawrence & Co Inc., co-founder and ultimately CEO of spin-off company Lawrence Asset Management Inc., founder of Buchanan Renewables Inc., and founder of Feronia Inc. which acquired the historic Unilever plantations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2010 Ravi founded Galane Gold, a mining company that operates mines in South Africa and the USA. In 2013 Ravi co-founded Jade Power Trust, the developer, owner and operator of a portfolio of renewable energy assets that was acquired by a private equity fund in 2022.
Ravi serves as a director of numerous public and private companies where he has played an active role in governance, oversight and strategy across a variety of industries including software, semiconductors, mining, forestry, and consumer products. He became well-known as a television personality and frequent co-host of the television programme “Squeeze Play”.
Ravi was admitted to the University of Waterloo at age 16 and graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons) degree. At the University of Waterloo Ravi was a Descartes Fellow, a Canada Scholar in Technology, and awarded one of ten National Corporate Scholarships by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. Ravi has achieved national recognition in several mathematics and physics competitions in the USA and Canada and was for many years a member of the MENSA High IQ Society.
J. Colter Eadie
J. Colter Eadie
Colter Eadie, CEO and co-founder of Abraxas Power. Colter has a background in developing, building, and operating renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind, solar, and hydro generation assets.
Before Abraxas Power, Colter co-founded Jade Power Trust, a Canadian public energy trust listed on the TSX Venture Exchange that owned a portfolio of renewable energy assets in Europe. In 2022, these assets were sold to Enery Power Holding GmbH. Throughout his career, Colter has led teams that have been awarded over $9 billion in capital projects through government awards.
As a Project Sponsor of Abraxas Power, Colter brings to the team the same expertise, leadership, and unwavering work ethic that drove the success of past ventures.
Colter attended Huron College, University of Western Ontario, where he studied Urban Development.
Guy Bentinck
Guy Bentinck
Guy Bentinck is a seasoned executive who brings an extensive record of accomplishments to Abraxas Power in leadership, strategy development, relationship management, finance, operations, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and project execution.
Guy has worked in the global natural resources and energy sectors as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and SVP of Capital Projects. (Sherritt International, Fairfax Financial, Baffinland Iron Mines and finally Hydrostor Inc., where he raised US$250 million from Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Canada Pension Plan).
Over the course of his career, Guy has raised an aggregate of US$15 billions in equity, debt, and project financing. He has completed five large go-private transactions and five first public offerings, including the merger and spin-out of Sherritt’s Metals Processing technologies.
Guy Bentinck holds an M.A. from the University of Aberdeen, an ICD D. from Rotman School of Business and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
Dean Comand
Dean Comand
Dean Comand is an accomplished executive with a talent for developing business strategies that prioritize operational excellence and organizational vision. He has extensive experience in various areas crucial to Abraxas Power, including governance, operations, engineering, development, and product execution.
Dean has worked in both the private and public sectors as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Internal Auditor, managing natural resources, energy, heavy manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, and resource recovery companies. Some of the organizations he has worked with include Hamilton Utilities Corporation, Algonquin Power & Utilities, Sherritt International, Stelco, Nextsource Materials, and Hydrostor. Throughout his career, Dean has successfully deployed an aggregate of US$10 billion in capital and led teams of up to 10,000 personnel. Additionally, Dean is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng), a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), and holds a Chartered Director (CDIR) from McMaster University.
