Project Solar City

Overview

In April 2024, the Government of the Maldives issued Abraxas Power the first permit under the Special Economic Zone Act to construct a 100 MW floating solar renewable energy project within newly reclaimed barrier islands. Project Solar City will be the largest energy project in the Maldives. Only 4km from Male/Hulhumale, Solar City demonstrates the viability of integrating intermittent renewable energy into island grids.
